Power Mama Move
February

Joining us for our Shift Happens Series is Sandra Chaplain, LCSW. Sandra is a psychotherapist with over 20 years experience working with adults, couples, families and children. She provides psychoanalytic psychotherapy treatment addressing issues related to anxiety, depression, relationship/family/work-all of the areas which comprise our lives. As mothers, spouses/life partners and caregivers a lot of our attention is directed towards attending to the needs of others. What too many of us don’t do is check in on our mental and emotional health. Uncertainty about the future can impact how we manage our day-to-day lives; are we thriving or merely surviving? If you are feeling overwhelmed, experiencing more than your normal stress and anxiety, or unable to move past a traumatic incident then talking to a therapist might be a good idea for you. If you feel fine and just want to talk to someone who is unbiased and non-judgmental, then therapy might also be a good idea for you. Sandra is compassionate, warm, insightful and talking to her feels like drinking a cup of tea of your favorite tea-comforting and reassuring. Sandra’s office is located Downtown Brooklyn at 26 Court Street, Suite 2604. You can reach her by phone at (718)488-7977 or by email at schaplainjeremie@hotmail.com. She accepts most major insurances (GHI, Cigna, UBH, Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Oxford).

Celebrating Power Mama Julie Shepherd-Southwell, owner/founder of GoGreenBabyGo for her ME-structure. GoGreenBabyGo is an indie children’s t-shirt line specializing in trendy, socially aware designs (and cute, too!) This company has been Julie’s dream child and she’s giving it space to grow. Her latest venture is Work for Hire where she bills herself as “The Ultimate Unprofessional” and offers up her services as a personal assistant. Julie is highly creative and resourceful with an impressive range of ability and skill sets. She has an incredible knack for making the complex simple and a relatability which most will find reassuring. Her Me-structuring came with the realization that while you are working, watching and waiting for your side hustle to become your main gig, there are kids to feed, bills to pay and, yes, dreams to build; life is free, living costs. Julie didn’t choose one over the other, or give up on her dream. She considered what she believed herself capable of and restructured her energy and efforts around creating a system of living that would allow her to pursue her passion, build her dream AND sustain her family.
